Warning: Scam messages impersonating Vietcombank via SMS to notify about expiring reward points and guide users to redeem gifts in order to steal card information
In recent days, Vietcombank has received reports from customers regarding the following:
- Scammers have sent messages impersonating Vietcombank, notifying about expiring reward points and providing instructions to redeem gifts. These messages include suspicious links such as: vietcomm.top; vieetcom.top; viettcamd.top-vn; viettcad.top; vietcommbank.top,etc.
- When clicking on the link in the message, customers are redirected to a fake Vietcombank website and asked to follow instructions to redeem gifts or receive cashback from accumulated points.
- If customers enter personal information, card numbers, or OTP codes, scammers may steal the information to make unauthorized transactions or link the customer’s card to their mobile devices, thereby seizing the funds in the card.
This is a fraudulent scheme using fake branded messages, which has already been warned by authorities and Vietcombank. VIETCOMBANK CONTINUES TO ADVISE CUSTOMERS AS FOLLOWS:
1. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT provide confidential information (card details, OTP codes) to anyone. Vietcombank NEVER asks customers to provide such information in any form.
2. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT click on strange links sent via email, text message, or social media. Vietcombank NEVER sends emails or messages containing links to customers.
3. Carefully read OTP notification messages to detect any unusual signs (if any). OTP messages clearly state their purpose (e.g. OTP notification for e-wallet linking).
4. If you have entered card information on a fake website, immediately block your card.
5. Only contact and receive information via Vietcombank’s official communication channels.
