Continues to warn of tricks impersonating Vietcombank employees to offer to open credit cards

Recently, the form of fraud impersonating Vietcombank employees/call centers has continued to appear and increase with the following specific tricks:

Fraudulent tricks

  • Fraudsters claiming to be bank employees call and send messages (SMS, Zalo, messenger...) to persuade customers to actively open a non-physical debit card or apply for credit card issuance at the bank. Some fraudulent phone numbers have been reflected: 02366888766, 02488860469, 02888865154, 1900355561...
  • In some cases, when receiving a call, customers will hear a message pretending to be an automated call center: "Congratulations on being eligible to issue a credit card at the bank. If the customer has a need, press 1 or press 0 to meet with the operator." If the customer presses the key, the crook will hang up the call, then call back claiming to be an employee of the bank and scam the customer to provide personal information and security information of the banking service.
  • Fraudsters ask customers to register for debit card issuance, provide newly issued debit card information, and use that card information to link the customer's card to their e-wallet or use an online payment card on e-commerce sites (buying high-value items such as iPhones, etc.). MacBook...), thereby appropriating the money in the customer's card. The information that the subject asks to provide usually includes Card image; series of numbers printed on the card; name on the card; screen displaying the full card number on VCB Digibank; OTP code, etc.
  • The crooks ask customers to provide account number information, personal information (ID cards, biometric images, etc.), service security information (passwords, OTPs, etc.) to log in to banking applications and appropriate customers' assets.
  • Fraudsters ask customers to transfer money to their account or another account for the purpose of "raising their credit score to be eligible for card issuance", thereby appropriating customer money.
  • In the process of fraud, fraudsters can ask customers to transfer money to pay application fees, card issuance fees, etc.
