More than 5,000 students and young volunteers gathered at Van Hien University in HCM City on March 8 to participate in the 2026 Red Sunday voluntary blood donation festival. Vietcombank once again stood out as a key partner, contributing through a range of meaningful activities from blood donation and social welfare initiatives to student support programmes.
At the event, many Vietcombank employees from branches across the city directly took part in donating blood. Throughout March, several Vietcombank branches have also been organising voluntary blood donation drives, helping spread the spirit of compassion and community sharing.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Hoang Tung, Deputy CEO of Vietcombank, said: “For more than half a century of presence and development in HCM City, Vietcombank has not only made significant contributions to the city’s socio-economic growth but has also actively implemented community programs aimed at sustainable, humane, and responsible development. Over the past five years, our social welfare budget in the city has reached VND350 billion, accounting for 12.5 per cent of Vietcombank’s nationwide social welfare budget of VND2.8 trillion.”
Voluntary blood donation has become an annual movement across the entire Vietcombank system. Between 2022 and 2025, Vietcombank employees donated more than 14,350 units of blood to the community. In 2023 alone, with 6,886 units donated, Vietcombank was among 19 outstanding organisations nationwide honoured with the “Red Drop Award” by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
Within the framework of the programme, Vietcombank also carried out several social welfare activities. The bank worked with the organisers to provide VND600 million to build six gratitude houses for veterans and people with meritorious service facing difficult circumstances in Dong Thanh and Cu Chi communes of HCM City.
With Vietcombank’s support, the organisers also awarded 100 scholarships and donated 20 computers to students and student associations from universities in the area.
