Vietcombank takes the lead as the first bank to sign a service contract with RAR to apply the Ministry of Public Security's electronic authentication service. This collaboration enables Vietcombank to collect, sanitize, and authenticate biometric information for customers on digital banking channels. This initiative serves as a foundation for Vietcombank to ensure compliance with the regulations outlined in Decision No. 2345/QD-NHNN, issued by the State Bank of Vietnam on December 18, 2023, regarding the implementation of safe and secure solutions in online and card payment banking.

With the cooperation, Vietcombank now offers enhanced convenience for customers to update their biometric information. In addition to the existing solutions that involve chip-embedded citizen identification cards and NFC-enabled phones, customers can now leverage the app-to-app connection solution between the VCB Digibank application and the VNeID application. This expanded range of options empowers customers with the flexibility to update their biometric information seamlessly, catering to their individual preferences and needs.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Deputy General Director of Vietcombank said: "Over the past year, we have worked closely with the Ministry of Public Security, the National Population Database (C06), RAR, and GTEL Corporation. Together, we have successfully connected and integrated national population data, implementing various solutions to authenticate and accurately identify our customers in the digital realm. Notably, the implementation of VNeID for electronic authentication has allowed us to leverage reliable data sources from the national population database. This has greatly facilitated the identification of new customers and the authentication of existing ones, ensuring our customers enjoy the safest, simplest, and most convenient transaction experiences with Vietcombank.”
